About TVXQ – Catch Me

This is the long awaited comeback for the greatest idol group, TVXQ, the first I’ve ever biased and one who took me down the road of KPOP mainstream back in 2005. Whooaaaa … where do I begin now?

After releasing their first album Keep Your Head Down in early 2011, now they’re back again with the epic second album “Catch Me”. I know it’s supposed to be their 6th album with the name TVXQ, but you know, with that separation and all, WHICH I am not going to discuss here in my post, I would like to say that I am now letting go the past and supporting the boys as the new and fresh group, but not at all a rookie.

As I said above, Catch Me is epic, the song itself and also the whole album, and it’s the right decision to use it as the title album. I’m kind of an objective person, I don’t judge something based in my bias, but let me tell you what .. Catch Me will seriously catch your ears at your first time listening to it. I don’t know much about defining music genre or how to describe a song, but Catch Me is one with that electronic melody integrated in Pop dance song, so ear catchy, PLUS! the dubstep tones up the postmodernity of the song.

Dubstep may be a little new term for some of you, it’s a new genre of music originated in South London early 2000s, with overall sound as “tightly coiled productions with overwhelming bass lines and reverberant drum patterns, clipped samples, and occasional vocals” [wiki.en]. The music itself spread in Asia recently, I once watched some Indonesian musicians introduced the music genre in one news television until a month later I watch SM used it the first time in SBS Gayo Daejun for their artist stage performance.

Catch Me album consists of 11 songs; 10 of them are fresh from the oven while there’s one titled “I don’t Know” is the Korean version of the song with the same title in Japanese version of Keep Your head Down album. The lyric is very obsessive, about a man who seems depressed by his girlfriend’s attitude. Then he kinds of threatening to leave if she doesn’t change, but in the end I think he’s finally leaving while ‘cursing’ at his girl and seemingly be sorry for his whole deep passion of loving a heartless woman. I’m not quite sure if this is kind of typical TVXQ for now, but I found that their lyric is a little bit sarcastic. When a year ago I thought KYHD’s lyric was kind of coarse with its ambiguous meaning and all, then I finally found that Catch Me’s lyric even more sarcastic by calling his girlfriend as ‘babo’ and the other lines showing the feeling of dejection.

Translation

Catch Me, Girl!
Catch Me Now!
(Catch Me. If you wanna)

You’ve never opened your heart to me,
not even once
I feel like I’m looking at a wall,
you know that?
You’re next to me but
I’m even lonelier tonight tonight tonight
I waited for you but this
just isn’t it so now I’m leaving you

This fool can’t even tell me not to go
Why did I only look at this fool,
at pitiful you?

Baby Catch Me. Catch Me.
Catch Me, Girl, Tonight.
Before I leave (I’m serious, I’m serious)
If only you held onto me, stopped me,
cried, hit me and told me the reason
(I’m serious I’m serious)

Oh, I don’t know if I’ve been
deep inside your heart or not
That’s what I’m curious about
Before I get too tired, tell me, tell me, answer me

Time will tie you
to that spot right there
Don’t let me go, you’ll regret it
stop being so foolish

This fool can’t even tell me not to go
Why did I only look at this fool,
at pitiful you?

For a while, I felt like I was filled with you,
I remember those happy memories
Don’t forget that there isn’t anyone
to wait for you like I have – no!

I want you to beg for me so I’ll wait for you
Tell me, “Don’t ever leave me”
You’re too slow but I’m only
looking at you till you make up your mind – why?
I want you to beg for me
so I’ll wait for you
Tell me, “Don’t ever leave me”
Fool, why did I love you? I only have you – why?

This fool can’t even tell me not to go
Why did I only look at this fool,
at pitiful you?

Baby Catch Me. Catch Me.
Catch Me, Girl, Tonight.
Before I leave (I’m serious, I’m serious)
If only you held onto me, stopped me,
cried, hit me and told me the reason
(I’m serious I’m serious)

(Catch Me. If you wanna)

Some friends who have listened to this album told me the same thing, that this one is way better than the previous album of KYHD. Catch Me has more various ballad, R&B and also dance tracks with catchy melody to listen, my faves here are 인생은 빛났다 (Viva), Destiny, I Swear, Gorgeous and Good Night, and I assure you will like them too. So all I can say is HURRY BUY THEIR ALBUM NOW!! Don’t forget to purchase their album legally on iTunes or the other legal digital sites to support the boys and appreciate their hardwork in making a great album. They will have their comeback stage in early October, so I really cant wait for them performing Catch Me live! Seriously, when I watch the video, I can’t even imagine how epic their stage would be when it’s performed live with that difficult choreography.

Anyway, TVXQ finally started its trend to dubstep, which I’m surely believe it will be a hit in 2013. Let’s see who’s going to follow next!
